Traffic flowing again after train stopped on tracks in north Lincoln

Traffic Cones

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Police Department said a train was cleared from the road Friday after being stalled in north Lincoln.

LPD said the train stopped on the tracks along Cornhusker Highway, blocking 44th and 33rd streets for a little under two hours.

The department said the Railroad Transportation Safety District is working with the railroad on this problem.

This was at least the third train stalled in Lincoln this week.

On Tuesday, a train with “mechanical issues” blocked crossings at 70th and 84th streets.

And on Wednesday, a Channel 8 viewer sent in video of traffic backups on those same streets because of a stalled train.
