Volunteer firefighters in western Nebraska battle semitrailer blaze in subzero temps

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Volunteer fire crews fought a semitrailer blaze Sunday in subzero temps at a gas station in Sidney.

The Sidney Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire around 3:20 a.m.

Officials said the fire was under control in about five minutes.

The semi driver was asleep, and a person pulling into the gas station alerted them to the fire.

Officials said the two were able to disconnect the trailer from the semi.

They also alerted the owners of nearby vehicles to move before the flames spread.

The temperature at the time of the fire was -7°, according to the fire department.  It’s unknown what caused the fire.
