Lincoln man caused over $100,000 in damage in skid-loader rampage, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man driving a skid loader caused over $100,000 in damage Sunday in southeast Lincoln, police say.

Samuel Peyrot, 36, of Lincoln damaged eight vehicles — including a police cruiser — at a U-Stop and Home Depot near 70th Street and Nebraska Parkway, officials said.

Officers took Peyrot into custody at gunpoint.  He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on an officer, second-degree assault and criminal mischief.

Peyrot also damaged two street signs, an ATM and the front entrance of The Still.

Investigators suspected Peyrot of being “under the influence of drugs, due to his erratic behavior,” according to an arrest affidavit.

In an update Wednesday, police estimated that Peyrot caused $114,000 in damage.

The skid loader was owned by Peyrot’s employer, according to police.  He had taken it to the gas station with a company-owned truck and trailer.

Peyrot appeared in court Wednesday.  He was additionally charged with four counts of criminal mischief.

A Lancaster County judge set Peyrot’s bond at $100,000, according to court records.  He must pay $10,000 to be released.
