LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Lincoln man will spend two decades behind bars for gun and drug charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says.

Detrick Smith, 32, was sentenced Friday for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a gun while committing a drug trafficking crime.

On April 6, 2022, the Lincoln Police Department served a search warrant at Smith’s apartment.

Investigators found about 3,500 grams of marijuana, $11,624 in cash, digital scales, a money counter and cocaine, according to the attorney’s office.

Two handguns, including a Glock that was modified to become fully automatic, were also seized, the attorney’s office said.

After his release from prison, Smith will serve a five-year term of supervised release.  There is no parole in the federal system.
