Three Nebraska prison workers had improper contact with inmates, patrol says
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three Lincoln women were arrested Monday in an investigation into improper contact with multiple inmates.
The Nebraska State Patrol said two employees at the Nebraska State Penitentiary — Abbey Fielder, 26, and Laura Schluckebier, 45 — were taken into custody.
A former Nebraska Department of Correctional Services employee, 47-year-old Nicole Carter, was also arrested.
Carter and Fielder were charged with sexual abuse of an inmate. Schluckebier was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to allow a committed offender to communicate.
All three women were also charged with allowing a committed offender to have unauthorized visitation or communication, the patrol said.
In an arrest affidavit, investigators said Carter had a “romantic relationship” with an inmate. Court documents were not yet available for the other two women.
Carter and Schluckebier were lodged in the Lancaster County Jail. Fielder was released due to “medical circumstances,” according to the patrol.
“We hold our team members to a high standard, and inappropriate behavior involving a member of the incarcerated population will not be tolerated in NDCS,” Director Robb Jeffreys said in a press release.
The patrol said Schluckebier and Fielder were placed under “investigatory suspension.”
