One man in prison for Nebraska fentanyl bust; another is in the wind

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Utah man will spend more than 10 years in federal prison after getting caught with fentanyl in Nebraska.

Celso Carillo, 44, was sentenced Thursday to 121 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl.

The case began on Jan. 10, 2023, when a car Carillo was riding in was pulled over on Interstate 80 near North Platte.

Carillo told troopers that he had two THC vape cartridges, according to authorities. And the driver, Alfonso Carillo, had a pipe with methamphetamine residue.

So troopers searched the car and found 9.1 pounds of fentanyl.

Alfonso Carillo, who authorities think is Celso Carillo’s nephew, served jail time on a state charge of meth possession.

He is also under federal indictment, but the U.S. Attorney’s Office said authorities don’t know where he is.

After prison, Celso Carillo will be on supervised release for five years. There is no parole in the federal system.
