LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A former Lincoln man was sentenced Tuesday after making guns for people barred from owning them.

Spenser Ware, 35, will spend 3½ years in federal prison for possession of firearms and ammunition by a prohibited person.

Ware has felony convictions out of Florida, preventing him from possessing guns at all.

But in October, police found out that Ware was building guns and selling them to people who couldn’t legally purchase them.

Police searched Ware’s home and found five firearms. Several of those were “ghost guns” with no serial numbers. Some also had short barrels.

Law enforcement also found 12 receivers, high-capacity magazines, body armor, 1,800 rounds of ammo, holsters and firearm assembly equipment.

Ware admitted that he ordered the parts for the guns and assembled them himself.

After Ware is released, he will spend three years under supervised release.
