Charge upgraded for woman accused of attempted murder at Grand Island pharmacy

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Prosecutors filed an upgraded charge Thursday against a woman accused of trying to kill an employee at a Grand Island pharmacy.
Hodan Farah, 41, is now charged with attempted first-degree murder. She was originally charged with attempted second-degree murder.
Farah also faces a felony weapon charge and two misdemeanors: resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

On April 5, Farah went to U Save Pharmacy near Fourth and Walnut streets and became “upset” with employees, according to an arrest affidavit.
She left but later called and threatened to choke one of the employees “until she dies,” the affidavit says.
About a half-hour later, a suicide hotline received a report that Farah was “suicidal and homicidal” and was heading to the pharmacy with a knife.
Police said they arrived quickly at the pharmacy, and while they were there, Farah pulled up in an SUV.
She exited the vehicle armed with a kitchen knife as officers blocked the door to the pharmacy, according to police.
Farah defied orders to drop the knife and got back into her vehicle, police said.
She tried to drive away, but officers broke the window and took her out of the SUV.
