Nearing record highs, then nearing first freeze
The dry spell has been felt statewide with many locations at 2-3 weeks without rain, if not longer. In the background, the map below shows the latest drought monitor that we’ll receive an update on by Thursday. Most of eastern and northern Nebraska
Temperatures falling to the middle 40s and lower 50s make for another cooler first half of the day. We’ll quickly warm up, though.
We face a few warmer afternoons starting today. Winds will remain light out of the south around 5-10 mph as temperatures jump to the mid and upper 80s.
We’ll likely be a few degrees shy of records today and Friday, with our best shot at nearing record temperatures being Thursday.
Yet in the same forecast, our first freeze looks to be right around the corner. A surge of colder air will move in over the weekend, dropping highs to the 60s and overnight lows to the 30s. The forecast for each morning can be found below.
At this point, the first freeze looks possible in Lincoln by Monday morning.
