LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- In Governor Ricketts’ latest press briefing on Friday, he and pharmacist Mark McCurdy talked about how important Test Nebraska has been during the pandemic.

Ricketts emphasized that Nebraska is one of only a handful of states that have made getting tested for the coronavirus “burden free” with our Test Nebraska program.

At the moment, Test Nebraska is processing around 2,500 tests per day, and Ricketts said they have the capacity to do more, encouraging the community to continue to get tested.

Nebraska has delivered 1.825 million tests statewide as of the new year. About 44% of Nebraska’s population has used the free testing service, Test Nebraska. There are 60 different testing sites across the state.

Mark McCurdy, pharmacist at Mark’ Pharmacy , talked about how much Test Nebraska has helped them, as a provider, reach communities in Nebraska during the hectic year.

Test Nebraska provided Mark’s Pharmacy with the tools they needed to handle the pandemic.

“We took our rural location and said, ‘let’s take our care to the people’,” McCurdy said. “By committing to that, that allowed us to make a difference in Nebraskans’ lives and slow the spread of the virus, and we’re very proud of that.”
