Man takes plea deal in break-in of York home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man who once faced six felony charges after a York break-in was convicted of only one on Tuesday.

Jonah Jewell, 23, of North Carolina pleaded no contest to attempted terroristic threats.

In exchange, prosecutors dropped charges of burglary, terroristic threats and possession of a weapon to commit a felony.

Police said Jewell was armed with a gun on March 4 when he broke into a house in York.

He had previously sent threatened to kill one of the residents, according to court documents.

Jewell was initially charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, but those were dismissed in March.

His sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 23. He faces up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
