Sources: Nebraska DC Tony White to leave for Florida State job

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The man leading Nebraska’s defense is taking on a new role at Florida State University, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Thamel announced the news on X Monday afternoon, saying Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White is signing a three-year deal with the Seminoles.

It is rumored that defensive line coach Terrance Knighton will follow White to Florida State.

In a post on X, Thamel said “there are details to still work out with the potential hire, but it’s trending that way.”

However, it seems things have progressed quickly to sign the 18-year veteran.
Last year, White’s contract was restructured, bumping his salary to $1.6 million yearly.
Head coach Matt Rhule brought White in as defensive coordinator in 2023.
In White’s first year at Nebraska, the Huskers allowed 303.5 yards per game, the program’s best total defense average since 2009. The Huskers ranked 14th nationally in total defense that season.
White has 18 years of coaching experience, with previous stints at Syracuse, Arizona State and UCLA. This is White’s fifth season as a defensive coordinator.
