Lincoln man arrested after high-speed chase in Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol on Saturday arrested a Lincoln man after a pursuit and domestic disturbance in Lancaster County.

Just before 11 p.m., the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office told the state patrol that a suspect had fled a reported assault in a Ford F-150.

A few minutes later, a trooper found the vehicle driving without headlights on Highway 6 near Greenwood.

The trooper tried to pull the pickup over, but the driver refused to stop and fled with speeds over 100 miles per hour, the state patrol said in a press release.

An NSP helicopter took over the pursuit from the air, while the trooper on the ground backed off.

Pilots tracked the suspect as he continued to drive north of Lincoln on county roads. Another trooper was able to successfully deploy stop sticks as the suspect drove south on 14th Street near Raymond Road.

The suspect continued at slow speeds, still refusing to stop, but a trooper performed a tactical vehicle intervention to stop the suspect, according to the state patrol.

Mikhail Bondarchuk, 45, was arrested without further incident for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony.

The reported assault is being investigated by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
