LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A trio of cluster mailboxes were damaged early Thursday morning in an east Lincoln neighborhood, police say.

Just before 5 a.m., officers were sent to a neighborhood near 70th and A streets on a report of vandalism.

A vehicle ran over three cluster mailboxes, causing an estimated $1,100 in damage, according to police.

Four unlocked vehicles had also been “rummaged through,” police said.  None of the vehicles appeared to be damaged.

Police also don’t think any packages were taken from the mailboxes.

Later that day, officers found a stolen vehicle with damage “consistent with hitting the cluster mailboxes,” police said.

The vehicle had been reported stolen on Dec. 28 from the area of 65th and Fremont streets.

An investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
