Two rescued from Hastings house fire; dog ‘currently doing well’ after receiving oxygen

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hastings Fire & Rescue battled a house fire Thursday morning, rescuing two men and a dog from the blaze.

Just before 7 a.m., crews were sent to a house near West 12th Street and Baltimore Avenue for a two-alarm fire.

When crews arrived, two men were rescued from the fire and taken to Mary Lanning Healthcare with unknown injuries, according to officials.

The fire department said a dog was also rescued. The dog was given oxygen at the scene and taken to TLC Vet Care.

Officials said in a press release that the dog continued to receive oxygen, as well as medication for smoke inhalation, and is “currently doing well.”

The fire was under control by 8:10 a.m., according to HFR. The amount of damage and cause of the fire is still under investigation.
