WATCH: Thieves try using stolen truck to pull ATM out of north Lincoln business
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are searching for the people involved in an attempted ATM theft at a north Lincoln business last month.
On Dec. 22, a truck — which had been stolen from B&D Auto — was used to slam into the front door of U-Pull-It near 70th Street and Cornhusker Highway.
A person gets inside the business and tries to strap onto the ATM, police said. But the strap broke when the truck drove off.
Eventually, officers found the truck “not too far” from the business with the tow strap still hanging on the back, according to police.
Police estimate the pickup caused $8,000 in damage to the business.
Police are also seeking a man who was seen trespassing at a home near 35th and C streets last year.
He was first spotted in the backyard on Nov. 9 around 11:30 p.m.
The man approached a security camera and pointed it upwards, police said.
Investigators think the same man returned to the home on Dec. 13.
Around 3:45 a.m., the man was seen messing with a window and trying to get into the garage.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
