Lincoln restaurants see surge of online orders for Valentine’s Day
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Local restaurants prepared for a surge of online orders on Valentine’s Day as snow piles stopped some couples from venturing out.
Buzzard Billy’s had a good number of reservations, according to the general manager, Rebecca Wohlers.
“Usually, our customers will get their Buzzard Billy’s one way or another, whether they call it in or come in and see us or order on DoorDash or Grubhub,” she said. “So hopefully we have a really steady night, even with the weather incoming.”
But Wohlers said when it gets cold and the streets are bad, a lot of people will opt to eat at home.
“I think more people, ultimately, do get online or call in orders when the weather’s bad, given that we don’t have a parking lot and there’s only off-street parking down here,” she said. “But we’ve only had a few cancellations for reservations tonight, and still people calling and wanting more.”
She said there are ways to accommodate all customers, and the staff prepares for busy nights like Valentine’s Day.
“Luckily, we can change the wait time on those (takeout) orders to a little bit longer if we are busy in-house,” Wohlers said.
No matter how people get their food, she said it’s awesome to see the support they give to local restaurants on big holidays.
“I’m really grateful that they still want to come out, and I think people are just over the cold,” she said.
