Two teens caught after crashing stolen vehicle in central Lincoln, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two teens stole a pickup truck Sunday evening and crashed it into a concrete wall in central Lincoln, police say.
Around 6:45 p.m., a man reported that their pickup truck had been stolen near 40th and Randolph streets.
Police said the man’s wallet, cash, ID and credit cards were inside the stolen vehicle.
Less than two hours later, a Nebraska State Patrol helicopter spotted the truck near 21st and L streets.
Officers tried pulling over the vehicle, but the driver sped off and crashed into a concrete wall, according to LPD.
The two occupants, a 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy, tried to run away. Officers eventually caught up and took them into custody.
The 14-year-old boy was lodged at the Youth Services Center on suspicion of felony theft, flight to avoid arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
The 13-year-old boy was referred on suspicion of felony theft and obstructing a peace officer.
