Stothert and Ewing advance to general election for Omaha mayor

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The matchup is set for Omaha’s mayoral election.
On Tuesday, incumbent Mayor Jean Stothert and Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing advanced from the primary.
Stothert received about 25,000 votes, according to the latest count. That’s about 37% of all votes counted so far.
Ewing got about 21,600 votes, or 32%.
Stothert is a Republican seeking her fourth term, while Ewing is a Democrat.
The race is officially nonpartisan.
Former State Sen. Mike McDonnell, a Republican, was eliminated Tuesday, finishing in third with about 20% of the vote.
Jasmine Harris, a Democratic criminal justice reform advocate, got about 10%.
Omaha’s general election will be held on May 13.
