Lancaster County couple arrested in thefts of Menards rebates, dirt bikes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Malcolm couple were arrested this week in multiple crimes in the Lincoln area.
Jesse and Krysta McIntire appeared in court Wednesday on charges of felony theft, second-degree forgery and possession of a controlled substance.
Jesse McIntire is also charged with possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
Court documents say their stealing spree began in January or February, when they took a Malcolm man’s Menards rebates.
On Feb. 21 and 22, arrest affidavits say surveillance cameras captured the McIntires using the rebates at both Menards stores in Lincoln.
They redeemed a total of $3,934.83 in rebates, authorities said.
Then on March 16, police said they broke into Elway Powersports near 27th Street and Fletcher Avenue.
Surveillance video shows someone using a sledgehammer to break a glass door.
Three people then enter the store, and two of them make off with two Yamaha dirt bikes. The bikes were worth more than $8,000 each.
Police have not said if they know who the third person is.

On Tuesday, the McIntires were caught with one of the dirt bikes in their pickup truck, according to an arrest affidavit.
Investigators also found a pipe with methamphetamine residue on top of the center console, police said.
Jesse McIntire, 35, also had brass knuckles on him, officers said. He is a convicted felon, so he is barred from having deadly weapons.
Krysta McIntire, 31, is already facing a burglary charge in connection with an October break-in at a storage unit.
The couple are due back in court on May 7.
