LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Five teens who absconded from a Wyoming juvenile facility were caught Sunday in western Nebraska, the patrol says.

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol learned five teens went missing from a juvenile facility in Wyoming.

The teens were suspected of traveling through Nebraska in a stolen vehicle, according to the patrol.

Troopers later learned the teens had stolen another vehicle in North Platte and were traveling together in both cars.

At around 4:15 a.m., a trooper spotted both vehicles, a Dodge Durango and a Chevy Tahoe, heading eastbound at over 100 mph on Interstate 80 near Gothenburg.

The trooper tried pulling the vehicles over as they exited I-80 at the Cozad interchange.  Both vehicles continued south on Highway 21.

Eventually, the Dodge left the road and stopped in a ditch.  Two teens got out and ran into a field, according to the patrol.

The Chevy drove for a few more miles before coming to a stop.  Three teens exited and ran away, the patrol said.

After a search that took several hours, authorities found all five teens and took them into custody.

They were placed in the custody of probation officials.
