Visas revoked for ‘small number’ of University of Nebraska students
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Multiple University of Nebraska students have had their visas revoked by the Trump administration.
A University of Nebraska-Lincoln spokeswoman said Wednesday that it happened to a “small number” of international students across the university system.
“We are not providing specific numbers or additional details out of concern for student privacy,” Leslie Reed said in a statement.
More than 900 international students at campuses across the country have had their legal status terminated in recent weeks, the Associated Press reported.
According to UNL’s census, there are just over 1,600 international students enrolled at the university.
A UNL student who has an international student as a roommate said he disagrees with the decision.
“It makes my heart hurt to know someone’s work can just be erased,” said Dywan Williams, a senior.
He said his roommate is fearful that it could happen to him.
“I think it’s unfair. I think it’s not right,” said Williams. “They should be given a chance, especially if they worked really hard.”
