LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Three people were killed Friday night when a small non-commercial plane crashed into the Platte River in eastern Nebraska, authorities say.

The crash was reported about 8:15 p.m. south of Fremont, according to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews staged at Luther Hormel Memorial Park next to the river, according to a Channel 8 reporter at the scene.

Sgt. Brie Frank said airboats and drones were brought in to search the water.

Shortly before midnight, authorities said the bodies of all three people onboard had been pulled from the river.

Authorities haven’t said who owned the aircraft.

Multiple agencies responded, including the Nebraska State Patrol, the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, the Waterloo Fire Department and the Fremont Fire Department.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.

Frank said crews will be on scene through the rest of the night and possibly for days.
