Music recording and rehearsal studio opens in downtown Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A new music space opened Thursday in downtown Lincoln.
The City of Lincoln opened the doors of The Music Box at 13th and N streets.
“The Music Box is a multiuse band rehearsal and recording space ideal for musicians and artists of all levels to hone their craft and cultivate careers in the music industry,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said.
The 1,200-square-foot studio is equipped with world-class recording equipment, a video wall, a stage, and lights — the whole nine yards.
“We are going to seed this city with really incredible musicians – and it’s going to start right here at the Music Box,” said Philip Zach, a local music producer.
It even comes with a variety of instruments free to use.
Anyone can sign up to become a member to reserve times for recording and practice.
And it’s open at all hours of the day. With no neighbors, musicians can jam into the late hours of the night without anything to worry about.
The building is owned by the city but is being leased to the Downtown Lincoln Association, which will operate the venue.
The Music Box and adjacent alley improvements cost $350,000 and was paid for by the Downtown Lincoln Association using American Rescue Plan Act grants.
