Inmate seriously injures three staff members at Tecumseh prison, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Three staff members at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution were seriously injured Thursday after they were assaulted by an inmate. 

According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, the inmate attacked staff members with a homemade weapon.

One staff member sustained a broken nose and two received staples for head injuries. All three staff members were treated at the hospital and released.

NDCS has launched an investigation into the assault, and all findings will be provided to the county attorney for criminal prosecution.

Officials said disciplinary process includes loss of good time, applied according to the rules and regulations.
