Man captured two months after being mistakenly let out of Nebraska jail

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man who was mistakenly released from a Nebraska Panhandle jail is back in custody.
Harley Salway, 52, was captured Sunday in Alliance, authorities said.
In late March, Salway was “inadvertently released” from the Scotts Bluff County Jail, the Alliance Police Department said.
He had been awaiting trial on charges of first-degree sexual assault and first-degree false imprisonment.

On Sunday, the U.S. Marshals Service was using a drone to search for Salway in Alliance.
Shortly after 5 p.m., he was seen exiting a home on East Fourth Street.
Local law enforcement surrounded the home and took him into custody without incident, police said.
Authorities said 49-year-old Angela Cole was harboring Salway.
She was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a Class II felony and aiding the consummation of a felony.
Salway is in the Box Butte County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
Cole has a $10,000 bond.
“The Alliance Police Department would like to thank the public for the many tips which ultimately led to the arrest of a dangerous fugitive,” the department said in a press release.
The Box Butte County Sheriff’s Office has taken responsibility for Salway’s accidental release.
Even though he was charged in Box Butte County, he was incarcerated in Scotts Bluff County, which has a much larger jail.
Salway was involved in multiple cases, and authorities in Box Butte County said they failed to inform the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office that in one of those cases, a bond was still in place.
