Cloud cover and wind making for a much cooler day Tuesday
Severe weather on Monday knocked a semi over near Tarnov, and there were up to four reports of tornadoes in eastern Nebraska. Hail also was up to 3″ in diameter in Columbus and 2.75″ (baseball size) in Edgar, Nebraska.
Just like that, Lincoln is now up to 84% of normal May precipitation (through May 19). 2.29″ of the May total 2.50″ so far has come within the past two days.
Tuesday will be a weird day – we’ve likely already seen our high temperature in Lincoln. We were at about 63° at midnight and we likely won’t get back there with cloud cover and gusty northwest winds through the day.
Peak wind gusts in the afternoon will be around 40 mph here at home.
Elsewhere, central and western Nebraska could see wind gusts as high as 45 mph by Tuesday afternoon.
There’s a small chance for some spot showers mainly through northeast Nebraska the rest of the day.
We then turn sunny and dry for Wednesday and Thursday.
For now, the threat for severe weather looks low with storm chances returning over Memorial Day weekend.
