Nebraska tames the Nittany Lions, advances to Big Ten title game

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Huskers are repeating history in 2025, as they defeated Penn State Saturday night to clinch a spot in the Big Ten Championship for the second straight year.

Nebraska (31-27) scored six runs on 12 hits, while Penn State (33-23) totaled three runs on nine hits.

Tucker Timmerman recorded the start Saturday night, and finished with 3.1 innings, 3 ER, and 2 K’s.
This is the Husker’s third straight Big Ten Tournament win, putting them back in familiar territory. Head Coach Will Bolt says he liked the intensity the team brought for both games Saturday at Charles Schwab Field.
“I thought our mindset was incredible,” said Bolt. “The entire group we had all day long allowed us to stay focused.”
Gabe Swansen came up big again for the Huskers, recording a two run Home run in the seventh inning, his second big knock of the day.
Swansen says it’s all about thriving in these big moments. “These are the games you want to play in, the situations you want to be in,” Swansen said.
Luke Broderick worked around a single and a walk in the each of the eighth and ninth innings to keep the Nittany Lions off the board and preserve Nebraska’s 6-3 win on Saturday night.
This sets up a battle with the UCLA Bruins for Sunday’s championship game. First pitch is at 2 p.m. on BTN at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
