Sooners sink the Huskers in NCAA regional game as Nebraska comeback falls short

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska baseball fell to Oklahoma 7-4 on Friday night in the NCAA regional in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
OU had 11 hits on the night, while NU managed only six.
The Huskers loaded the bases in the top of the first inning with two outs, but Dylan Carey grounded out in the next at-bat.
The Sooners got on board in the bottom of the second with a Drew Dickerson two-run home run.
Easton Carmichael added another homer for Oklahoma in the third to make the score 3-0.

The Sooners padded their lead in the fifth inning with a Trey Gambill RBI single and racked up a 7-0 lead by the end of the seventh.
Then Nebraska’s offense finally got going.
In the top of the eighth, Gabe Swansen singled, Case Sanderson got to first base on an Oklahoma error, and Carey was hit by a pitch.
With the bases loaded, Max Buettenback tripled, sending the three runners ahead of him to home plate.
Later in the inning, Buettenback made it home on a sacrifice fly by Will Jesske.
But Nebraska couldn’t complete the comeback, with the Sooners quickly getting their three outs in the top of the ninth to end the game.
Malachi Witherspoon got the win for Oklahoma, allowing no runs and only three hits in six innings pitched.
Jackson Brockett took the loss on the mound for Nebraska. He allowed three runs and six hits in 3.1 innings.
The Huskers will play Holy Cross at 11 a.m. in the losers’ bracket. The game will be broadcast on ESPN Plus.
