Affidavit: Grand Island woman hit restaurant co-worker with metal pail, beer bottle

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Grand Island woman was arrested early Saturday morning after police say she assaulted her co-worker.
Yidxis Diaz, 30, was charged with second-degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony.
Just before 1 a.m., officers with the Grand Island Police Department were called to El Tabares Bar & Grill near Fourth and Pine streets.
When officers arrived, they found a woman who said she was hit on the head with a beer bottle after an argument with a co-worker.
The victim said she was in pain and wanted to press charges.
Medical units were also called to the scene and said the victim had a small bump and a cut on her head. She was taken to a local hospital.
According to the affidavit, surveillance footage shows Diaz walking over to the victim and another woman.
An argument began, and police said Diaz slapped the victim’s hand out of her face.
At this time, the victim started slapping Diaz repeatedly while Diaz used a metal pail to hit the victim several times in the head, according to the affidavit.
The pail was found with a large dent in the side.
Footage also showed Diaz grabbing a beer bottle and hitting the victim several times on the head, police said.
Diaz was arrested and taken to the Hall County Jail.
According to the police department, the victim was also ticketed for third-degree assault.
