UNL Police investigating alleged third-degree sexual assault on campus

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department is investigating an alleged third-degree sexual assault on campus.

Just after 12:15 a.m. Saturday, someone said they were being followed by an unknown male for a short time to the entrance of the Abel Hall welcome center.

According to police, the man then ran up, slapped the person on the buttocks and ran off in an unknown direction.

The police department issued the following statement on its website:

“The goal is to provide information so the UNL community has awareness of the situation and can take precautions for their own safety, as well as to encourage reporting of similar situations to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police.”

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call UNLPD at 402-472-2222.
