Severe storms expected Sunday evening in western Nebraska
Sunday, a SLIGHT risk for severe weather is in place for parts of west central and SW Nebraska. A MARGINAL risk for surrounding areas, such as Grand Island. Main threats will be large hail up to tennis balls, winds up to 75+ mph and a few brief spin ups possible through Sunday evening.
A few brief spin ups will be possible with any isolated cells Sunday evening.
Winds up to 75+ mph will be likely as these storms converge into an MCS as they push ESE through Sunday night.
Hail up to golf balls or larger will be likely with any storms that develop Sunday evening.
Storm Cast shows storms moving in from South Dakota early Sunday morning. These storms will likely be a wind threat as they move into parts of Broken Bow. An MCS will initiate late Sunday afternoon in parts of west central Nebraska and Colorado. The initial single cells that develop will most likely have the best potential for large hail and brief rotations. The line of storms moving in from Colorado Sunday evening will become a heavy rain, damaging wind and large hail event as it moves through parts of SW Nebraska. Storms look to dissipate by time they reach the Grand Island area.
Monday, a similar storm system will initiate in the evening hours. Storms will initiate out west and move east overnight Monday. Main concerns will be large hail up to tennis balls and winds up to 75+ mph. This risk could get shifted further east into parts SE Nebraska as we get closer to time.
Tonight, temperatures in the mid to upper 60s for all of us. Another muggy night under partly cloudy skies.
