Former Husker basketball player Larry Florence dies at 49

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Former Nebraska basketball player Larry Florence died on Saturday after a battle with cancer.
In a post on X, Nebraska announced the passing of Florence, who was a four-year starter under coach Danny Nee from 1996 to 2000. He was 49.
Sports Illustrated reported that Florence had myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells.
Florence was the 22nd Husker to surpass 1,000 career points and part of four postseason tournament teams, including the 1996 NIT Championship team.
He was a team captain and an honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection in his senior year at Nebraska.
The Alabama native still ranks in the top 20 all-time at Nebraska in career and starts.
