Man accused of third DUI after crash in northeast Lincoln neighborhood

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested early Monday morning after a crash in a northeast Lincoln neighborhood, police say.

Around 2:45 a.m., officers responded to a disturbance near 46th Street and Cleveland Avenue.

Witnesses reported seeing a man, later identified as 53-year-old Harold Campbell, throwing a bike and crashing into vehicles while leaving the area.

When officers arrived, they found Campbell near his Jeep, which had hit a utility pole, police said.

During an investigation, officers learned Campbell crashed into a parked vehicle, a road sign and a home’s wall before hitting the utility pole.

Officers also found a 62-year-old man, who LPD thinks is the owner of the bike that Campbell threw.

He was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police said Campbell and the man knew each other and were involved in “some kind of altercation” before the incident.

It’s unknown if the man was injured by Campbell’s Jeep or by “other means,” according to police.

After being treated at a hospital, Campbell was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident and third-offense DUI.

An investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
