LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Four people were hospitalized Saturday night following a crash on Interstate 80.

Just before 5:20 p.m., several first responders were sent to I-80 West at the Interstate 480 off ramp.

According to the Omaha Police Department, a westbound Toyota Highlander hit some debris in the roadway and moved to the painted median.

A 2025 Volvo semitrailer also hit the debris, losing control and hitting the Highlander, OPD said.

The semi continued onto the off ramp where it collided with a guardrail, coming to rest on the grass shoulder just past the 24th Street bridge.

OPD said the semi ended up catching fire.

The driver of the Highlander, a 55-year-old male, was taken to Nebraska Medicine for possible serious injuries, OPD said.

Three other adult occupants in the Highlander were also taken to Nebraska Medicine for treatment of various injuries.

The 44-year-old male semi driver was uninjured.
