Severe Weather Potential: July 29-30, 2025
There is a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH in place for parts of northern and eastern Nebraska through 4:00 a.m. CDT, which includes Lincoln.
There is a level 2 “SLIGHT RISK” for severe storms Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning.
Below is what our StormCast weather model is showing for timing, location, and duration of the storm potential Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
The main concern with these storms tonight is the potential for damaging wind. There could be 50 to 60 mph wind gust across much of the state, but areas in SW Nebraska may see wind gusts in excess of 75 mph.
Hail is possible with the storms as well. 1-1.5″ hail will be most likely, but a few areas may see hail up to golf ball size.
Storms may come at some areas twice, once tonight and once overnight. Where this is possible may see heavy rain a couple of times, so parts of eastern Nebraska is in a Flood Watch through early Wednesday.
The heat does continue until these storms pass through, so a Heat Advisory and an Extreme Heat Warning is in place through 8:00pm, Tuesday night.
We do cool off dramatically, though. Take a look at the next several days!
