The murders happened in February 2024 at a bowling alley in Bloomfield, a town of about 1,000 people near the South Dakota border.

Authorities said Reed went there with a shotgun to rob the business.

He shot 77-year-old Curtis Strom and 49-year-old William Reffett in the head, then stole from the cash register.

Both men died at the scene.

The Nebraska State Patrol said Reed and his girlfriend, Kaylynn Sweazy, then hid the gun on the side of a country road.

Sweazy, 29, was sentenced last month for attempted evidence tampering and accessory to a felony.

That same week, Reed pleaded no contest to two counts of first-degree murder.
