Massive storm system slams the Midwest with floods, tornadoes

Over the past five days, there have been 130 tornado reports, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Prediction Center.

According to the National Weather Service, at least 33 tornadoes hit several states in the Midwest on Tuesday.

Two tornadoes were confirmed to have touched down in southeast Nebraska in Richardson County.

While no damage was reported there, many areas to the south of Nebraska can not say the same.

Kansas sustained the hardest blow, with 25 tornadoes spiraling across the state, leaving damage in their wake.

In Oklahoma, heavy storms caused flash floods to cascade into neighborhoods, killing one person whose car got swept away in the waters.

The storms also took a toll on Missouri, where a possible tornado ripped apart the grandstand at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland.

People already camped out for the races didn’t have a chance to escape before the storm hit.  Luckily, no one was severely injured.

This massive storm system now heads to the east, with at least 10 states currently under flood alerts.
