‘Feels really special’: Jordan Larson now part owner as LOVB Omaha becomes LOVB Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — LOVB Omaha on Wednesday announced a rebranding and a new ownership group.

The professional volleyball team will now be called LOVB Nebraska “to capture the place that Nebraska occupies in the world of volleyball,” according to a press release.

The team’s new owners include Husker legend and Olympic athlete Jordan Larson, who also plays on the team.

“I think that if we can get everyone on board about how to get behind a pro team and feel like everyone is included, I think that feels authentic, that feels real to the state,” Larson told Channel 8. “Feels really special.”

Larson said being able to represent the state that shaped her is a feeling unlike any other.

“I feel very lucky that Nebraska has always been home, and even though I’ve traveled the world, I know I can always come back here,” she said.

Larson pointed to all the support she has here, including family, and also praised the state for its devotion to volleyball.

“It is so loved here, and just walking in the state, it’s so celebrated,’ she said. “To be a small part of that is so welcoming, and I just never wanted to forget what that felt like.”

Many expressed their support about this new look.

Gov. Jim Pillen posted on X, “Nebraska is THE volleyball state. Jordan is a great ambassador for our state and the sport and we can’t wait to cheer the LOVB Nebraska team on under her leadership.”

Larson said although the future is uncertain right now, she is ready to continue to build with the team.

“My hope is that eventually we’ll all get on a similar page, whatever that looks like,” she said. “Obviously, LOVB has done such a great job building this massive platform over the past six years and advocating more on the pro side and how we’re continuing to evolve that. I think I’m also just excited for all the girls that can continue to play.”
