Lincoln students recognized for water conservation posters

Some fifth–graders got recognized for helping spread the message of water conservation.

It was the annual Be Waterwise poster contest.

The Mayor’s Water Conservation Task Force presented awards to 10 students who made pictures about using water wisely.

Officials said that’s important, especially during droughts and during the restrictions due to flooding this past spring.

The first place winner is Hope Harshman, for her “Roses Are Red” poem.  Her work will be displayed on a StarTran bus, a large poster and bookmarks.

The other nine students’ pictures will also be displayed on posters, a billboard and bookmarks.

Public Works & Utilities Assistant Director Donna Garden also took a moment to say so far, they do not expect to ask residents to follow mandatory water restrictions in the near future.
