Omaha man’s body believed to be found in Rocky Mountain National Park

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The body of an Omaha man may have been found in Rocky Mountain National Park, according to the National Park Service.

On Wednesday, a body believed to be that of 23-year-old Blake Kieckhafer was found near Emerald Lake.

Rocky Mountain National Park rangers completed an on-scene investigation, and authorities said recovery operations took place by helicopter.

His body was flown to a landing zone in Rocky Mountain National Park and transferred to the Larimer County Coroner’s Office.

Kieckhafer’s family reported him missing to park rangers on Monday.

He was last seen in the Upper Beaver Meadows area of Rocky Mountain National Park on Aug. 7 around 5:20 p.m. where he was dropped off by a ride-share service.

Officials said their investigation led them to focus their search around Emerald Lake on Wednesday.

Over 80 people were involved in search efforts throughout the day, including several agencies, search and rescue teams, rescue dog teams and helicopters.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will confirm the identity of the body and release additional information.
