But this year, they will be without star quarterback and South Dakota State commit Treston Hass after his season-ending injury.
“I mean Treston Hass, he’s an amazing player,” head coach Jamie Opfer said. “What he’s brought to this program that last three years, starting as a freshman at receiver and then jumped into quarterback, he has meant a lot to this program.”

In 2024, Hass threw for 2,736 yards and 27 touchdowns while also rushing for 530 yards and four touchdowns.
“Oh yeah, not being able to play this year sucks, but just an obstacle in life,” he said. “Got to all be out here every single day, helping everyone get better, being a better leader than I was when I was able to play.”
Opfer said this season, Seward will “lean on” Hass’ expertise in the quarterback room and on the sidelines.
Despite the loss of QB1, the Bluejays are confident in what the team brings back, including a bevy of seniors like wide receiver and North Dakota commit Jack Vyhnalek.
He said opponents may underestimate the Bluejays because of Hass’ injury.
“But we just got a bunch of dogs on our team,” Vyhnalek said. “We know we can go out and compete with anyone.”
