Rainy Labor Day, Sunshine Returns Tuesday
Forecast:
After southeast Nebraska saw multiple rounds of rainfall over the holiday weekend, we do have a risk of flash flooding. Due to the recent rains, the Weather Prediction Center has a Marginal Risk (Level 1 out of 4) for excessive rainfall following the Labor Day weekend storms.
Taking a look at August as a whole, we saw our highest temperatures in the upper 90s and temperatures all the way down into the lower 50s. We were over an inch and a half above average for rainfall for the month, with the majority of it falling on August 10.
For the rest of this evening, temperatures remain fairly consistent this evening in the lower 60s and upper 50s with mostly cloudy skies.
Tonight, low temperatures tonight drop into the upper 50s with mostly cloudy skies. Winds remain out of the east-southeast, but should be lighter between 5 and 10 miles per hour.
Looking forward, lows tonight in Lincoln fall to the upper 50s with mostly cloudy skies. A few sprinkles will be possible during the overnight hours with and east-southeast wind.
On Tuesday, high temperatures will be nearly 10 degrees warmer than today across southeast Nebraska with mostly sunny skies. Highs will reach the middle and upper 70s with winds out of the southwest between 5 and 10 miles per hour.
On Tuesday, we will see increasing sunshine with highs in the mid-70s. Mostly sunny skies tomorrow afternoon with light winds out of the southwest.
Temperatures remain in the lower 70s after a cold front passes through the area on Wednesday. Storm chances are possible with the passing cold front as well. Breezy conditions before weekend with highs remaining in the lower and middle 70s. Sunshine continues for the first home game of the year for the Cornhuskers. Cloud cover is expected to return next week, although warmer temperatures are on the way in the upper 70s and lower 80s.
