Fairbury man sentenced for abusing child for more than two years

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A southeast Nebraska man was sentenced Thursday for physically and sexually abusing a child.
Brandon Myers of Fairbury got three years in prison for intentional child abuse without injury and one year for third-degree sexual assault.
Myers, 42, will serve both sentences at the same time, and he was also given credit for almost four months of time served.
So he could be paroled after a little more than a year.

Court documents say Myers abused a child for more than two years.
He and his wife, Bobbi Myers, were arrested in May 2024.
The husband worked at the Jefferson County Jail, so he was placed in the Thayer County Jail.

Authorities said the wife, 45, abused a child tried to keep her husband’s victim quiet.
She took a plea deal that reduced her charges to misdemeanors and was released from jail in March after serving 73 days of a 180-day sentence.
Brandon Myers pleaded no contest in July.
The third-degree sexual assault charge was reduced from third-degree sexual assault of a child, and prosecutors also dropped a count of third-degree assault.
Myers will be required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
