LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday after breaking into a church in Norfolk, police say.

At around 10:20 a.m., officers responded to Grace Lutheran Church on a report of a man trespassing.

A staff member told officers that a man, later identified as 34-year-old Gregory Major, was seen on security cameras in the basement.

Police said Major entered the church through a door that was closed “but not secured” at around 3 a.m.

Officers started searching the church and found Major in a bathroom, hiding in a stall, according to police.

They also discovered a bag “filled” with various items that belonged to the church, police said.

Several other items belonging to the church, like a half-empty gallon of chocolate milk, were found in the bathroom.

Major was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

During his arrest, officers found a small bag of methamphetamine, leading to an additional felony drug charge, police said.
