Weak morning storms in central Nebraska; heat building for early October
This streak of above average temperatures all running 80° or warmer will continue into early October.
We did have a couple nice cooler periods in September, looking back.
Average temperatures swing a lot cooler in October, and it’s the first month we start to **average** a little snowfall (less than 1″). A lot of times though, we just don’t see snow.
The heat starts to build again for the first few days of October. We’ll start with warm temperatures in the middle 80s, then more clouds rolling in the second part of the day.
But Thursday, Friday and Saturday will all have temperatures up around 90°.
Weak thunderstorms had developed in central Nebraska early Wednesday, moving ever-so-slowly northeast with time. This may hold on for some to see rain in northeast Nebraska by the late morning, yet most of us will remain dry today.
Temperatures again across the state will be around 80, if not a but warmer in southeast Nebraska.
As the early heat in October happens, the winds will get stronger. Gusts will peak around 30-40 mph by Friday and into the weekend.
That means this Husker game will likely be affected by strong winds with south gusts up to 40 mph not out of the question.
It’ll be quite toasty, too, with kickoff by the hottest time of the day.
