Crete Cardinals take flight, soaring past the Lincoln Northwest Falcons

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Crete Cardinals soared past the Lincoln Northwest Falcons on Friday night.

The teams faced off at Union Bank & Trust Stadium, with Crete taking a 45-7 victory.

On the first drive of the game, the Falcons fumbled the ball.

It was recovered by Crete, but the team ran into trouble trying to convert.

On a fourth down, quarterback Nick Wendt slipped and fell just short of the end zone.

Lincoln Northwest’s offense took over, but it was a tough night for the Falcons.

Quarterback Sammy Jurgens dropped the ball, marking the team’s second fumble in as many drives, and gave the ball right back to the Cardinals.

That time, Crete cashed in.

Landry Kuntz caught a touchdown pass, and the Cardinals took the lead 7-0 in the first quarter.

On the Falcon’s next drive, a third straight fumble handed the ball right back to Crete.

Peyton Steuer caught a deep pass, and Kuntz ran it in for another six points.

Crete is now 2-5 on the season while the Falcons fall to 1-6.
