Police searching for two men involved in driveway repair scheme in northeast Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An 86-year-old Lincoln man was scammed out of nearly $4,000 after he agreed to have his driveway repaired.
Around 1 p.m. on Oct. 8, two people were walking door-to-door in a neighborhood near 61st and Benton streets, asking homeowners if there was any work they could help with.
According to the Lincoln Police Department, the victim agreed to having his driveway repaired for $69.
The two people then told the man it would be $69 per gallon of material needed, for a total cost of $3,800.
LPD said the victim agreed to this and paid the men in cash.
The two men said they would return the following day with a receipt and to do the work, but they never returned.
