State patrol: Troopers arrest 17-year-old following chase with stolen car in Omaha

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 17-year-old was arrested Wednesday following a chase with a stolen vehicle in Omaha.
Just before 11:30 a.m., a trooper with the Nebraska State Patrol saw a Jeep Cherokee that was reported stolen near 30th Street and Ames Avenue.
The trooper tried to pull the vehicle over in a parking lot, but it sped off, according to the state patrol.
The troopers pursued for several blocks before the driver stopped the vehicle, got out and ran off.
After about 30 seconds, troopers caught up to the suspect and took him into custody.
The driver, a 17-year-old from Omaha, was lodged in the Douglas County Youth Center on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking, flight to avoid arrest, obstructing a peace officer, possession of marijuana, and driving without a license.
The driver also had several warrants from Sarpy County.
