LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A pedestrian was killed following a crash in east Lincoln on Friday.

First responders were called to the intersection of 84th Street and Cherrywood Drive just after 2:30 p.m. Friday.

According to LPD, a female pedestrian in her 40s was running on the MoPac Trail. As she crossed the street, she was hit by a northbound vehicle.

The woman was taken to the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries, where she later died, LPD said.

There is no word on whether the woman had the right of way to cross the street.

LPD said northbound 84th Street between A Street and Sandalwood is closed during investigation and cleanup.

The MoPac Trail is also closed in the area due to the investigation.
